logo-project-difference Project Difference was established in 2013 when the Ricardo Fisas Natura Bissé Foundation and the City Hall of Sant Cugat del Vallés joined forces to offer support to the 15/20% of the city’s children with learning differences such as Dyslexia and ADHD. In 2002, Joaquín Serra, Senior Officer and Director of Institutional Relations for Natura Bissé, traveled to Dallas with his family to create and develop the firm’s subsidiary there. Within months, they realized that their daughter wasn’t adapting well to her new school environment. Following the school‘s advice, they visited Shelton School, a school specialized in the area of learning differences. After a two day battery of tests, indeed, she was diagnosed with dyslexia. For six years, Joaquin’s daughter was taught to read and write through a specialized methodology, also providing her with the tools to organize her work and increase her confidence and self-esteem. When the family returned to Barcelona, Joaquin found in the small village of Sant Cugat del Vallés a community that was receptive to and enthusiastic about his project for creating a school like Shelton. The mayor of Sant Cugat, Mercè Conesa, established that the project shouldn’t be about ONE specialized school but about ALL schools in the city of Sant Cugat having trained teachers and the required methodologies to detect and attend learning differences, especially in the areas of reading and writing, essential elements leading to academic success. Project Difference is also supporting the development of these two methodologies: 1.       An online program GLIFING: http://www.avesedari.com/es-ES/glifing/ Glifing is an intense but enjoyable training method that allows users to increase their reading performance and maximize their brainpower by using a computer and practicing 15 to 20 minutes daily, four times a week. 2.      Piruletras https://itunes.apple.com/es/app/piruletras/id534986729?mt=8 Children with dyslexia can overcome their reading and writing difficulties thanks to this application that offers more than 5000 exercises in Spanish and English.   Read complete article: http://innovacioneducativa.fundaciontelefonica.com/blog/2015/04/13/project-different-haciendo-de-las-diferencias-de-aprendizaje-una-oportunidad/
